In the message, the prime minister prompted people throughout the country to turn off all lights on April 5 (Sunday) at 9 pm for nine minutes. He prompted people to light a candle, diya or utilize the torches on their smart phones while remaining in their homes and verandas.
The prime minister said the gesture, whose statement was criticised by opposition parties, is an effort to show the country’s solidarity and unity in its fight versus coronavirus, which has contaminated over 2,000 and claimed more than 50 lives up until now in India.
