LMPD Chief comes under fire for saying low officer spirits is not his problem, later requires to social networks to apologize

“I think the morale of our officers is up to the individual,” Conrad said. “It is how you come to work and what you anticipate to do and how you’re going to do it. My morale every day is my duty. It is the exact same for each and every one people.”

“I’m stating that morale is set by everyone separately. Our sergeants have more effect on the morale of our patrol officers because they’re the ones that state yes or no when people desire to take a trip day,” Conrad said. “They’re the ones that are assigning individuals to details. They’re the ones assigning different cars to the officers that don’t have actually cars and trucks designated yet.”

Peden continued, “The spirits of your officers is not your problem, it’s theirs and how they pertain to work? That’s insane that you even uttered it two times. He provided you a chance to take it back and fix it and you stated it two times so lets, oh my God,” Peden exclaimed. “But for you to state it’s all on them when they come to work every day? Wow!”

“All positions, all departments, all units are being considered for how they might have the ability to run more effectively and continue to work in spite of having to do that task with less people,” Conrad said.

“I will assure you that no matter our staffing numbers, we’re dedicated to our mission which is to relatively and ethically supply policing services that are meant to prevent and control criminal activity,” he stated.

Mayor Greg Fischer made the decision to cut a hire class as part of his budget earlier this year. That was a relocation slammed by some council members, specifying the choice was made by the Mayor prior to providing an opportunity to see if the class could be saved, such as they made with a library and neighborhood swimming pools.

“I understand that every action I take, that every decision I make has a profound opinion on you, on your household, and on this department. I respect each of you, you do an incredible task,” Conrad continued. You take fantastic threats to make Louisville a more secure city and I definitely think we are making a difference.”
